  • Now the Laptop also solved a model with ~1.5 Mio nodes and many bonded contacts. Could it be a hardware related problem? Laptop: Workstation The workstation does have two different RAM installed. But the issue we have now has already been t…
  • Appearantly it seems to be an issue with the work station. The same model that solves on the laptop will not solve on the workstation for some reason. It gets the P-9 error shortly after the "solving matrix" phase begins.
  • We are using the internal solver. CCX is not an option for some reasons. So I assume Pastix / Pardiso does not apply? I did solve a simple model with more than two million nodes in the meantime on my laptop. @Victor ,any idea what could be the…
  • sorry, bad quality, but maybe helpful nonetheless. approx. 1.500.000 nodes in the model.
  • Hello @Victor and @Andrea , first, I found this article explaining the differnt methods for evaluation hot spot stress. It is in german originally, but google translator does an ok job, exept that it confuses stress with voltage (same word in germa…
  • Hi @Victor , I tried your suggestion and it worked as you described. Note that the beam resembling the bolt must consist of at least two elements so that it has a central node (to show the bolt forces) that is not shared with the the spider beams …
  • @Andrea is right, sorry for the insudficient information in my last post. I'll try to put together some more comprehensive information tomorrow which I have available only in german so I have to translate it first.
  • Thanks @Victor, another valuable addition! A couple of weeks ago I promised to dig out a an illustration showcasing the stress components that I would be interested in in order to use the stressliarization tool in Mecway for weld analysis: Or, a…
  • Hi @Sergio , Thanks for the Insight! Do you have a workflow for changing the thickness of the part when the shells are already expanded to solids?
  • Hi @Victor, That is a very convinient feature! I sent you a mail with the outline tree.
  • I would like that, too. Another nice improvment for the mesh tools could be to add something like scale tool that scales solid element normal to their surface (similar to an offset in CAD software ) Our use case is sheet metal parts. At some …
  • No, no time steps. I tried again and gave it more time. This time it worked. Don't know why its taking so long in this model (600k nodes). Maybe because of several configurations? Sorry, I can't share the model. Can the sum be defined before solvin…
  • For a small test model it worked just like you intended. On a large model the curser kept spinning (as in the software is working on something) and I shut mecway down after waiting about 10 min coz I thought there was someting wrong.
  • This Button: It is not there in V19. I thought it was intended to save the sum in outline tree or something like that...
  • @Victor , I just noticed that with beta version clickin on the "ok" botton causes Mecway to get stuck. Back to the always visible model outlines: They do get in the way quite a bit if there are many components in one model. So having an option …
  • Until now the models alway s solved over nicht, so that was Not too bad... Now that you mention it leaving the model edges visible might be a benefit for post processing to have the hidden parts "transparent" for reference. Cant really say if i…
  • Hi @Victor Thanks for the background info, that makes sense. In the meantime we have been solving a model we are currently working on in under two hours with beta release that previously wouldnt solve within 90h. We were actually just about to giv…
  • @Victor , that fix worked incredibly well on a test model that we set up. Thank you very much! Top: V19, Bottom V20_Beta3 3510 sec. vs. 37 sec. for applying constraints phase. Thats 95 times faster. For curiosities sake: what was the issue befo…
  • Hi @Victor , if that works that would sure be a major game changer. We'll check it out and let you know. Thanks for looking in to this!
  • Hi @Victor thanks for the advice. I will look at the post by @Sergio. I already fiqured out that the bonded contact is much slower when the meshes are very different compared to nearly compatible meshes. We may give ccx a try. But we are using la…
  • Thanks for the input @Victor & @disla. I don't think that hidden windows are the issue, but we'll double check and let you know. We dont have contact in the model, so that should not be the issue either. Both files are derived from the same ba…
  • Hi Victor, we did some more tests. Even if the last edit has been done one the workstation, a "save as" is neccessary to get the solver runnning as usual. If we use "save" or do not save at all, the solver window does not open and we are unsure what…
  • Hi Victor, yes you are right, testing is quick, I got that wrong. At the moment it seems that a "save as" is neccessray to get it to work. I'll report back once we tried to do the last edit on the workstation with using "save as" before solving. We …
  • thank you, I'll give that a try
  • Thanks for the advice. It is linear simulation, so we Will try to reduce the output variables. I have had no luck with paraview. Can you help me with the correct workflow for opeding pvd / vtu files? I get this error message in paraview: "ERROR: I…
  • No file outputs are requsted. But "Save after solve" is set. The model has about 450000 Nodes. I suppose step 1 is only an issue if preparing the model on the laptop. Because if we edit on the workstation, we would save it to a new file name "..._SO…
  • Hi Victor, this is not to 100% validated, but it seems that multiple solves are possible, whenever the second model is saved before starting to solve. Workflow that does not work: 1: prepare the models on laptop 2: open and start to solve model …
  • I'll try to to dig out some Images next week to clarify the stress components that are needed. Thanks for having a look into this!
  • Internal Solver. I was not very precise in my first post. Lets say I have a large model with two configurations. If I would "solve all configurations", Mecway would solve them one after the other and the Workstation is not at capacity. Theref…
  • Hi @Victor, Would it be possible to extend the stress linearization tool to process not only v. Mises and principal stresses but also xx, yy, zz stress components or even any stress component to be chosen by the user? This would enable Mecway to…
