Mario, can provide a sketch with dimensions, boundary conditions, and material property? Currently, Mecway solver doesnt have element to element contacts. You will need to use CalculiX CCX solver to do it. Also take a look at this:

apadzak,
I'm couldn't answer your question but the results displayed okay on Mecway version 4.0 with bConverged ccx2.8p2 solver on a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. See video below. The file used in the video is attached.
There a pop-up window asking for the unit. I see this for both on Windows 7 and 10 64-bit. See attachments for a few screenshots of each step importing the file so you can see what I see.
prop_design,
I didn't have any issue opening your file in Mecway version 4.0. Tried on my desktop that has Windows 7 and also my laptop that has Windows 10. See attachments.
This built is impressive making good use of my Intel i7-6820HQ processor (32GB DDR4 RAM: only used about 30% of the RAM). It solved a linear static analysis with linear elastic material model that has all quadratic tetrahedral elements (325,979 nod…
I did a few quick runs testing your recent build on Calculix ccx2.10 and got the same results as compared bConverged Calculix ccx2.8p2. Your build run real fast. See video of the comparison below. I haven't tried larger and more complex models ye…
Did a quick run testing your files and got different results compared to bConverged ccx2.8p2 version. Your builts run real fast though. See comparison in the video below.
Great to hear that it's helpful. Just a comment that may not be your case. If the smaller part that are inserted into the groove of the larger part and are not welded together, it would be more accurate to use contact that allow interactions betwee…
Victor, there are several applications when this is needed. An example could be a brace connection to a chord by a sleeve type connection. The brace on that end is allowed to rotate and translate along the chord but restraint for the perpendicular…
There are many references on this topic (Here is one: https://wiki.csiamerica.com/display/kb/Eigenvalue+vs.+Nonlinear+buckling+analysis). Don't mind my comments. Each person is welcomed to do whatever the design required. Thanks
CCX convert the quadratic shell to quadratic solid. So in all cases, we are not comparing "apples" with "apples". I don't use eigenvalue (linear) buckling for real world problems since they are usually not conservative except for using the displace…
Stefanos,
Mesh convergence is importance. First try a courser mesh and then try with a finer mesh. If the results difference between the two are not significant then your coarser mesh would be adequate.
For your model, I refined (2x) the plate a…
Victor, I check about 10 different model with varying thickness (0.25" up to 2.5"), a value of 0.0001 seems to work perfectly for the Line Z-offset. I opened and closed all of them and check each time, the default value seems to be 0.0005. If we c…
The Line Z-offset works well (see attachments before and after). It's be great if this can be done automatically. Doesn't seem like the value can be saved before I tried and didn't work.
Also attached is a screenshot of a rough mesh that show the element edges going through the surfaces getting congested. I think someone mentioned about this before but not sure.
Victor, can we have an option to show or hide the cursors on the legend? I know they were requested but don't use those often and been ask several time why my plots have those cursors and lines pulling up and down (when I set my user defined max and…
I also been meshing in Ansys with its Multi-zone meshing feature to get all hex mesh but haven't seen any significant different in the results compared to Tet10 using linear static analysis with linear elastic material model. The hex mesh look much…
gogu,
1. If you know the actual loads, I would use those.
2. The peak von Mises stress sometime mislead the user that the stresses could be very high. It depends on mesh density, quality, etc. A mesh convergence study could be done to validate tha…
I'll look into the software but I prefer not recording sound if the workflow can be self explained. The software I used ActivePresenter can record sound also.
I also started with the non-commercial version and then upgraded to commercial version l…
If we can do all hexa mesh in one step with IA-FEMMesh than that improve the workflow quite a bit especially when we have to make some geometry changes per design requirement or even client request the last minutes.
