  • Maybe you need to increase the tolerance for the merge (selecting only the near nodes to avoid mix some small elements in other regions).
  • Some glitch on the display maybe then, I have seen some also before, and with partitioned hexa meshes also so could be related.
  • Could it be that there are some nodes not merged still? Have you check it with Open Cracks view?
  • For removing the rígid body card, just delete the line that says RIGID BODY. Check the thread that I mention before as I had some similar problems.
  • Just make a try blocking DOF 1,2 and 3 on the nodes at the base of the cube (and removing rigid body card). As I understand, now with the rígid body you will have a rotation when the ball impact the cube as there are no rotational restrain (or even …
  • In case of using RIGID BODY you should add a second reference node to be able to block also the rotations DOFs. Check this thread mecway.com/forum/discussion/comment/1247/#Comment_1247
  • As far as I rememeber we have talked about this sample problem in this forum, look for my post because I have posted the working model.
  • I'm using a Windows utility (Vtk Post, https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/CALCULIX/files/VtkLazarus1.4.zip) but is not perfect. I have tryed others but all lack of basic features (not all elements are converted, some fields variables are missed...…
  • Is a normal behaviour. What you can do is first select all the nodes as you say, and then change the selector to elements. Or select the elements directly by the components name on the tree.
  • Roland, in my experience with Solidworks or Solidedge, if I model the components in the origin of coordinates, and then create an assembly with the right position, then if I export the parts from the assembly, they will be exported "in assembly posi…
  • Yes, I supposse that. I will add the PEEK material as per the above spec and then fix one side and apply the load on the other by means of a rigid body simulating a plain bearing (or the plain bearing should be in the two ends???). Just to be sure t…
  • Tom, what you can do in Mecway is after meshing, scale the mesh (so, if you have created bc, loads, named selections... it will be keeped). Can you attach directly the .liml file? I will have a little of time to see it during the night.
  • twilliams55, you can export directly as step in Solidworks, and then Mecway should be able to import it with the right size. Anyway if you don't want to recreate the model, you can scale the mesh to the right size in Mecway directly.
  • For the boundary condition you could create a reference node at the center of the face, then link all the nodes of the faces to this reference node by means of the RIGID BODY card (not present in Mecway solver or GUI, so you should change the solver…
  • For metal springs, normally stresses are very low. Have you turn on geometric no lineal? And what about the stiffness that you have, does match with the predicted value? Regards
  • Sorry if I use the wrong channel or words, was not my intention. I really appreciate your contributions, in fact I'm using your versions since years.

  • Somebody has seen a warning from the antivirus? In my case Windows defender says that the file is infected with Trojan:Win32/Azden.A!cl Regards

  • Is called bonded contact
  • For this kind of geometries If they are perfectly modeled in the cad, then it should be able to merge it on the same cad program. As you say, sometimes you need to force the intersection to make the fusion to work. If you cannot do it in the cad, su…
  • Could it be that in the new version you must ask for it specifically before solvin? I will check later.
  • Paul, I have run on Mecway v8 and it produces the stress and deformation results, don´t understand your doubt.
  • About Netgen, normally I get better results (meshes) with it than Gmsh.
  • By the way, you could try to export the fused geometry as step in Salome, and then try to mesh it in Mecway to get an associated cad/mesh model.
  • Is it possible to use bonded contacts for parts that are intersecting each over are just have a line contact? I´m not sure, try changing the tolerance zone I tried to contact two intersecting bodies in a simple model, but it did not work. Maybe thi…
  • In your CAD package open the file and export every component as a single body step file (I did it with FreeCad), then import all in Mecway and mesh separately. Then you must join the parts (meshes) with bonded contacts. For this kind of geometry I …
  • Sebastien, if you are using CCX as solver, there is a card called RIGID BODY that you can use for link a set of nodes to a master node, but is not implemented in the Mecway GUI yet, you must include using custom CCX data
  • As far as I remember, Mecway only allow for one body in each step file. You mention that only open one part, so is a normal behaviour for Mecway. Try to export only one part for step file.
  • Very smart approach German! I work with another codes (Zebulon) where we can use a special card to keep a void volume constant. I will try to find a way to use this trick, maybe a filled bottle.
  • Maybe your elements are too much distorted due to the small thikness. Would be better with shell elements.
