Hey
I just read the news on thpe article linked below, that Siemens has closed OpenRadioss.
Did anyone here have the foresight to download their source code and everything from the Github before they deleted it?
I did not.

Version 20260120 with source and Windows binaries is here https://mecway.com/download/
I've also downloaded 20260728 (July this year) and will try to make that available soon.
Early in the lifecycle of the big box software, they had founders who had passion for their product. John Swanson, developer of ANSYS, used to visit our facility to ask what he could improve. He sold in the 90's, and I lost my ability to call the developers in Pennsylvania, and when they went public it turned into primarily a sales organization.
When I found Victor and Guido, I felt like I had gone back in time and found another John Swanson
Here's an effort to maintain it as open source: https://opencourant.org/
=================================================
@all When the upstream OpenRadioss repositories were taken down on October 1, the hm_reader input-reader binaries went with them. We've since recovered and preserved everything that remained public — the complete extlib git history through the final v82 delivery now lives at OpenCourant/extlib (branch upstream-v82), and our v82-hybrid package restores the current H3D libraries and headers.
But the reader binaries themselves were never in git, and the newest ones we could recover from public sources are older than the rest of the codebase expects: Because of this, OpenCourant builds use compatibility fallbacks for three reader APIs, and /ALE/STRUCTURED_MESH is unsupported. A reader from extlib v76 or later (built 2026-09-11 onward) would remove these limitations entirely.
We have exhausted every public source: the GitHub fork network, Docker Hub, GHCR, Quay, the Wayback Machine, and package archives (PyPI, conda, Spack, AUR, Zenodo). The only remaining copies are on the disks of people who downloaded them before October 1.
You can help if you have any of the following:
OpenRadioss_linux64.zip, OpenRadioss_win64.zip, or OpenRadioss_linuxa64.zip from release latest-20260728 or newer
An extlib.zip release asset, v71 through v82
The extlib/ folder from any OpenRadioss source checkout built between 2026-09-11 and 2026-10-01
Any OpenRadioss_linuxa64.zip at all — we currently have no ARM reader whatsoever
What to do: please reply here (or open a new issue) with the exact filename, where and roughly when you downloaded it, and its SHA-256 checksum:
sha256sum # Linux
certutil -hashfile SHA256 # Windows
Post the hash first — don't upload anything yet. Known-good reference hashes exist for some releases (e.g. OpenRadioss_win64.zip from latest-20260728 is 04dfecb0bf26ce071132cda86dc6861417c6a4127a389befe82b8c97341b3268), and we'll verify provenance before anything is redistributed.
