Tolerance in surfaces for bonded contact

Using 9.0 version, bonded contact with elastic (between shell elements and/or tet elements) given,
During solve, warning is generated like,
"
*WARNING in gentiedmpc: no tied MPC
generated for node 21234
master face too far away
distance: 3.0938080930908995E-005
tolerance: 1.1250002075891433E-005
"

1. How the tolerance adjusted?
2. If data is added in .inp file, Mecway reads it?

  • 1. As far as I know about CCX, there's no tolerance for contact (elastic option in Mecway), either default or able to be changed. I also didn't think it generated any MPCs, so I'm surprised by this warning message.

    2. No. Only if you open the .inp file directly, like with File -> Open.

Can you post the file that has this problem? Maybe something else is causing that warning? Does it affect the solution?
  • Hey Victor,
I cant post the problem as the project is confidential but its a simple foldable pallet. The problem is occuring in the contact between the surfaces of 3D solid and shell elements.

Victor Help me out here I was really impressed with mecway so I bought it and now its giving this vague problems and I keep pushing my deadline.
  • Sorry for the extra problems. You can email it confidentially to support@mecway.com if you want.

Here's an example showing shell elements connected to tet solids using elastic bonded contact without any problems. It even has a large gap between them. So I'll need more information to reproduce the problem.

Other suggestions: Have you tried deleting large parts of the model to see if it's only one pair of elements causing it? Are you sure none of the bonded contacts are set to *TIE?
