Importing RISA 3D FEA Model into Mecway

What do I need to do in order to open a RISA 3D file and use the nodes that have been defined? Typically they are saved as .r3d. I can re-define all of the elements, if necessary.

I saw another post mentioning saving the RISA file as a .dxf file, but there were some settings that needed to be accounted adjusted.

Thank you,

Chris

  • While I don't know about RISA 3D specifically, there are a lot of formats Mecway can import nodes from. Here are the ones that other FEA software might be able to export:
    • .dxf POINTs become nodes. What settings are you concerned about? Just try the defaults and see what happens.
    • .inp Abaqus/CCX
    • .msh Gmsh mesh
    • .ply polygon mesh
    • .stl surface mesh
    • .unv
    • .xyz simple list of point coordinates
