Replace Step File in Working Mecway Model?

Is it possible to prepare a Mecway based on a step file, then replace the step file with a slightly modified copy of the same step file?

I keep redrafting in Solidworks, but have to start from scratch for every change made to the solid model. It would be nice to keep all the loads, cases, and surfaces without redefining.

Thanks,

Chris

  • As far as I know is perfectly possible, even if you don´t add or remove features (faces), the boundary conditions should keep in place. Just be sure to add the bc based on faces of the step, and not of the mesh. In case the bc were not reatached to the new geometry is just a matter of reassign to the new faces.

  • Modify the step file with your favorite software, save it with the same name and in the same place as the original and then "reload" the geometry in the geometry menu in Mecway.
Do nor import as new Step, just reload.
As Sergio said be sure to add the bc based on faces of the step.
  • That is great disla and Sergio. Thanks for your feedback. That is going to save a bunch of time.
  • Awesome, thank you! Just happened to be in the same situation.
