Manufacturing Simulations

Hello,

I would like to know if Mecway is able to deal with manufacturing simulations like: sheet metal stamping, hot forming, forging, roll-forming, etc. What about large car crash simulations? I was unsuccessful in finding any example of this kind of simulations.

Best regards!

In principle, it can, but it may not be very convenient for more complex models.

Some people report failure of the solver for severe deformations like drawing. They might need careful workarounds.

In case of non-uniform temperatures, you can write some CCX commands to define temperature dependent mechanical properties and use a separate (not fully coupled) thermal analysis to generate the temperature field.

It can do nonlinear dynamic response with plastic deformation of shell elements which may be OK for crash simulation. However, contact during crushing is difficult to set up because you have to anticipate which faces might contact each other in advance.
