Yes. You can open a .dxf file and mesh it with Mesh tools -> Automesh 2D.
If the meshing fails, it can be because it's not really the closed boundary of a shape(s). It can also be a bug in the mesher which happens with some shapes and the automatic element size - if it's making random/faulty meshes, specify a max. element size.
attached is a picture of a sample .dxf I tried uploading. When I upload it, Mecway only recognizes the circle not the squares. One square is made from the line tool and the other is made from the square tool in Inventor.

You should be able to make most shapes using LWPOLYLINE (lightweight polyline). It looks like both rectangles here are made from POLYLINE though.
