"Master" Joint and "Slave" Joints or Surfaces

Victor,

Is there a way to apply loading (forces, moments, and/or rotations) to a "master" or "reference" joint and distribute the loading to "slave" joints and surfaces?

This is useful for pure bending and torsion loading: Like a cantilevered circular shaft (solid elements) subjected to pure bending or torsion at the free-end. Thanks

  • No, it doesn't have that feature. You could do something similar with stiff shell or beam elements laid over the surface to accept point moments and distribute the load, but that takes time to model.

My preferred way is to simply use two point forces directly on the surface. This will of course cause distortions near the load points and make the solution plot look ugly but the results away from the end will be OK.
