GRP or FRP Composite Laminate plate and stiffener

Hi I am trying to model a laminate panel stiffened with a hat stiffener..any ideas how to approach with a layup schedule..

  • Could you be a bit more specific?

Is the issue how to convert the layup schedule to material properties and element orientations, how to input that into Mecway, or more about meshing?

Are there any compound curves? That can make it difficult, otherwise, probably assign a uniform element orientation to all the elements and enter layer angles relative to that.

  • I see.

Set the element orientation of all the elements to something convenient, which depends a bit on the geometry or what orientation you think of as 0-degree.

Then define a laminate material and enter layer properties with the bottom layer first (top of the list). The angles you specify there are the layer orientations relative to the element orientation and about the +W axis (shell normal in the direction outwards from the top of the element).

Not sure if that covers what you're after?
