Error importing vol files in Mecway v4

Hi,

I was able to import the attached vol file into Mecway v3. But in Mecway v4 it causes an error and the program crashes.

I didn't have any issue opening your file in Mecway version 4.0. Tried on my desktop that has Windows 7 and also my laptop that has Windows 10. See attachments.

thanks for checking, that is weird. i am on windows 8.1 x64

this is the error i get. but if you hit ok it does import. the model was just very small and you had to re-zoom to see it. a beta version of Mecway was giving a different error and crashing. i thought both programs were crashing, but only the beta version was. do you get an error pop-up in v4 when you import the file?

There a pop-up window asking for the unit. I see this for both on Windows 7 and 10 64-bit. See attachments for a few screenshots of each step importing the file so you can see what I see.

i guess this is just local to me, not sure why.

It turns out this problem happens with File->Import but works OK with File->Open which VMH used. This is a bug and thanks for finding it prop_design. As a workaround, you could open it, then save as .liml, then import into another model.

Oh wow, thanks Victor. How obscure. I wonder if v3 had this issue too. I'm not sure if I was using file import or file open back then.

v3 looks OK.

There's a further bug. Opening .vol files through File->Open or ->Import scales the dimensions wrong. They're scaled down by 1000. Please use the Netgen .vol format with care until version 5 where it'll be fixed.

Thanks Victor, that explains why the model was so small after import into v4.
