Is possible to make a 3d mesh from a 2d mesh?

If I have a solid part that was meshed on another software, only a mesh of the surfaces with triangles, and then exported as inp, is possible to create a 3d mesh from this in Mecway?

  • Have you tried the Mesh tools->Automesh 3D... feature? I loaded an stl file, which should be almost the same base to start from. Here, the Automesh did the trick.

  • Have tried with the .inp shell mesh but without succes. Will try to export the mesh as stl and try again.

  • Automesh 3D should do it. Some ideas:

Make sure it's a single closed solid with no cracks or internal surfaces. (View -> Open cracks)

All the elements must be oriented the same way (+W axis all outward or all inward).

You can try surface mesh first which is more likely to succeed and might reveal where the problem is.
