Gmsh Custom Commands

Hi all,

I'm experimenting with gmsh and the types of mesh output I'm getting. I like how surface only gives a nice structured mesh, but volume doesn't. So I wanted to change gmsh setting a little to experiment.
When I put anything into the custom command box the mesh fails.
Remove it, meshes perfect. I'm 100% certain it's something I'm doing, but is there an example somewhere or something to show how it works?
I've done a typical Google search and there's the odd thing on this forum, but I want to try and understand the different mesh types and trying to call them up.

Thanks in advance

  • I've managed to figure it out. I found on this forum a set of commands. I then managed to use those to Google and got some more commands and roughly what they are, quads, subd and so on. And I've messed about with it and managed to get a good set up. Next time I'm on my laptop I'll post a bit of a list in case it's useful to anyone.
I dare say there is more to it which I'm yet to discover.
So some of the mesh options go 0=default 1=delauney 4=frontal, so my immediate wondering was where are 2 and 3, or what are 2 and 3.
  • Take a look at he Gmsh manual.

    https://gmsh.info/dev/doc/texinfo/gmsh.pdf

Prepomax has implement most of Gmsh commands in a really amazing way. It is even more friendly than the Gmsh GUI itself.

  • Cheers for the link, I don't know what manual I've been looking at but it didn't have that table in it, just some massive list of commands in amongst the text.
It seems to need an end command which I need to try and understand as well, I'll check out that manual
