Elastic spring to simulate isolators

Hello,

I am trying to model an isolation system made of n. 8 isolators located at the base of a structure. These devices provide a fixed elastic stiffness in both X and Y direction.
The only way I have found so far to introduce point stiffnesses is to create beam elements with mechanical option set up to "spring". However, this requires to generate some fixed points in order to draw the beam element. Is there any more straightforward way to deal with additional point stiffnesses?

Thanks,
Andrea

  • Not really. CalculiX has a 1-DOF spring (SPRING1 element) which you could define manually but that's probably even less convenient.

You can create line elements by extruding from nodes, and could generate all 8 isolators together with 2 extrude operations.
