Hi There i am getting above error while using non-linear contact for shell elements, dont know what i am doing wrong. Any help will be much appreciated. it seems this is an over constraint while using node-surface coupling?
However, it's risky to use node-surface coupling on beams and shells. There's a warning about that because sometimes it doesn't work. Since you have a structured mesh, you could make the fasteners from solid elements sharing nodes with the shells.
I would use solid elements for the entire joint area to avoid some of the shell/beam bugs that CCX has. The plates are thick enough that it shouldn't cause any loss of accuracy.
