"see through" colour on contour plot? Or "do not plot" out of range?

Hi,
Is there a way of selecting a "clear" or "see through" colour on a contour plot? I'd like to replicate what is sometimes called an "iso plot", so that I can see only elements that fall within (or outside of) a selected band?
I think it comes down to that I'd like to be able to set "Above range color" and/or "Below range color" to clear.
Perhaps a better way of thinking of it is to not plot those elements that are above/below.
I don't know if this is possible, it sounds like quite a different function to what is described in the documentation.
Any help will be appreciated. I apologise that I'm not as helpful to others as the help I receive but I'm not that good at this!
Regards,
DRQ.
