Export Mesh of Selected Components

Hi everyone,
is there a way or a workaround to export the mesh of a seleced component to a new file?

My goal is to export the mesh of one component within a large assembly to work on it in a seperate file and then re-import it to the assembly model.

While the import works fine, I have not found a good way to export selected meshes.

    As far as I know there is no way, what I do normally is select the component in the model tree, invert the selection, delete all the elements and export. And after undo to recover the elements.
