MYSTRAN/NASTRAN Support

Hi, I am wondering what the interest is for NASTRAN support with Mecway? MYSTRAN is an open source project that is similar to NASTRAN, but because of its modern code base, it is still under development (NASTRAN-95 is not being developed any longer AFAIK because it is just too challenging to work with). MYSTRAN (https://www.mystran.com/) has a forum and a fairly active Discord chat.

The challenge has been that the Mecway does not support NASTRAN/MYSTRAN. However, the developer of pyNastran (a NASTRAN post-processor) has created an ABAQUS to NASTRAN converter. It is much more than just a node/element converter and actually converts a deck with nodes, elements, materials, properties, loads, boundary conditions, and case control. We are still working out the details of the converter, but it does seem to be working pretty good and will be improved in the near future.

The main advantage of MYSTRAN (linear only), as compared to CalculiX, is that the elements are "standard" and not expanded in 3D. There are also BUSH elements and other types of elements that CalculiX does not have. If we can make the converter solid, this means Mecway users can also use MYSTRAN as an option. There is still a question of how to post process, but there is an open source program called pyNastran that is an OP2 postprocessor (NASTRAN/MYSTRAN output). So this would need to be used. The developer of that program assists on the MYSTRAN side.

In any case, let me know of the interest level or stop by the MYSTRAN discord channel (or forum - though its less active now that we often use Discord).
