Centre of Gravity Simulation

Hi all, it's been a while since I was last doing anything with Mecway.
I've always wondered about simulating a centre of gravity set up. So say there is a tool that's being lifted at a certain point, cN you simulate the tipping motion of the tool.
This came about a while ago when we were trying to easily figure out, from a 3d file, that was having some material removed and we wanted to figure out whether the change in c of g was acceptable.

So I suspect it can be simulated in Mecway, but how would you best go about it?

Thanks in advance

  • You could use nonlinear static analysis for this. If you know the points of contact with the ground, you could put displacement constraints there and a non-zero displacement at the lifting point. If you don't know them, use contact.

If you just want to find the center of gravity, use Tools -> Center of mass.
  • Cheers Victor I'll test it out thank you
