see attached where i hoped to be able to generate a better curve fitting mesh, by creating an iges file. why is each part of the iges being meshed seperately with very little nodes in common. How do i get it to mesh properly with each part joined wh…
I thought it might be that so i tried to use smooth but than moves the nodes alone the cone surface instead of keeping them on the same horizontal plane.
Is there anyway to force smooth to keep the Y co-ordinate and smooth the X and Z
How do i set the parallel to the cone axis? the only option i can see is to orient the U axis either to X, Y or Z. Original elements have been created using revolve.
I'm trying to select only the topmost nodes within the circle, so have turned on element surfaces, it is the top leg of an angle section viewed from above
re fit to view. closed and reopening fixed it. constraint equations were wrong and i had an isolated node appearing as part of the beam element even though it was not connected to any other nodes. Also discovered some duplicate nodes in the same pla…
thanks, I do have a few of nodes about 350 so not keen on option A
Not sure how i can easily generate it externally either. Its a pity that flexible joint only applies to beams. I was hoping it might be possible with new node rotation, say by enteri…
i'll try that. Would be useful if i could name the loads and have factors that apply only in the configuration instead of having to create new loads etc.
Thanks for your responses
I'm not familiar enough with ccx yet. I'm trying to read up on it now.
can you advise why doesn't it work as non linear static analysis in mecway instead of ccx?
The reality of this beam is that it is a model of a single …
tried using ccx 2.10 with contact in mecway version 6 but still cannot get it to solve. it runs for ages but doesnt give any result.
what have i set wrong. lml file is attached

sorry i tried to remove this. The problem i discovered was that the displacement constraints were applied to faces but appeared to be at the nodes, so when i selected the nodes and tried to remove the constraint it wouldn't do anything.
1. I was going to try a steel layer but as you have mentioned decided that it would not be correct for all directions. Do you have any examples of how to used beam elements within concrete. Is it possible to define the concrete material correctly. i…
Done all of that but now i have done an auto 2d mesh, then i got an answeri changed the mesh to tri and quad elements, then found out i cannot use tri3 elements for a shell.
why?what are they for then?
I also wanted to use 3 node line elements to …

Yes is mainly the loss of range when there is a peak stress somewhere. I thought it would be useful to have the full slider range, whatever the range you set. Especially if you have hidden parts that have the concentrated peak value.

with regard to the sign being relevant for load values.Isn't the direction of the load just as relevant as the value?
It would be useful if the axis, magnitude and sign was visible, especially when loads and constraints are turned off.…
SergioRegarding your statement "time delay that Mecway took for redisplay the mesh"
Have you tried turning the mesh off and only showing the outline and surfaces
I tend to use this a lot.
