Spindle Bearing Simulation

Dear All,

im new in the world of Mecway and also in the CCX Solver. In the past I used Hyperworks with optistruct for simulations but for the new Company the costs for the licence are much to high :'( .

The first needed FEM analyse is not so easy and for me to difficult in the new program. However I lerned the last days very much and used also some Pyton script to do the Job. Also Viktor helps a lot and give me a lot of examples. I thought it is better to do it in the forum perhaps some other newbies can learn also from this topic.

So, now to the Problem:

I need to calculate a assembly of 2 solid bodies (housing + Spindle) from a lathe. In the real there are angular contact ball bearings between the housing and shaft.

So normally I want to us RBE3 elements on the back bearings and spindle and also on the front bearings and add springs with zero lenght for the simulation of the bearing stiffness normally I has also to us torsion springs but I think this will be not possible in CCX. But as I saw, RBE2 elements are not allowed for spring connection.

Viktor sad I can us the spider beam instead of RBE element, and it looks interesting. With the solution of Viktor I thought perhaps I can add instead of the Beam elements also springs with only compression stiffness so it can be perhaps more realistic.

What do you think or did someone has a better idear to simulate this easy or with better results?

Is there any possibility to generate notes of the elements automatically out of the named section? Otherwise I need a day to add all nodes from the surface :) to generate the Spider beam elements.

Thanks a lot

Steffen
