Spring, mass, damper tutorial

I am looking for a simple spring, mass, damper tutorial or model to start using the capability?

  • Here's a model I just put together. I hope that's helpful.

  • Hi,

I find the system more predictable using Initial position and velocity as BC. Force seems unpredictable to me as one usually doesn't know the time duration and shape of the initial impulse.

Exact solution can be found as a function of x(0) and v(0) BC on the attached webpage.
It also contains fully reproducible examples with Mecway/ccx. I have checked several and the agreement is excellent.
The solution x(t) for the critical damping unfortunately does not appear in the pdf (Eq.23). If someone knows I would appreciate to share it.

General solution as a function of F(t) is more complex to find and amplitudes harder to check.
