Import CAD model

I create 3D models mechanical design software like SOLIDWORKS and Alibre Design. I think best the file format is STEP. I export a parts on a assembly on SOLIDWORKS. It takes a lot of time to export one at time. I need to suppress a parts except currently being save.

Is there an easier way to import an assembly from a mechanical design software to Mecway?

You can import the assembly step in Salome or Gmsh to create the mesh (on both can be a conformal mesh), and then export to Mecway. I preffer Salome as it have much better control of the mesh and group creation than Gmsh.

Thanks Sergio. I will test Gmsh and Salome. Are the choice of surfaces slower using mesh model?

No, I don't see any penalty on speed of selectionworking with the mesh faces directly, but in case you define some partition (as a bolting surface), you can loose it in the mesh model, making it a little complex to select it on Mecway, but again, you could define the groups in Salome by geometry (and if I remember well Gmsh will create a group for every face of the model).
