  • Sorry, I longer have the files...
  • Confirmed different values when using higher numbers of modes (attached).

  • Andrea/Victor, I tried and got the same results for both Victor and Kwip complied ccx v2.11 MT using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Operating System.  See quick video below.

  • Victor, for the configuration, can we run one configuration and work on the another active configuration and then run that one while the first configuration still running?  Seems like it stopped my 1st run when I run the 2nd configuration using CCX …

  • Also, I did a quick comparsion with the built-in CCX v2.11 and CCX v2.11 complied by Kwip. The results were the same for linear static analysis.  CCX v2.11 complied by Kwip solved almost two time faster for larger models (if anyone are interested).

  • Moment load on solid and shell is such a great feature! Thanks!

  • Victor, can we have unit options instead of "SIunits" for the "FORC_1", "FORC_2", and "FORC_3" output when using ccx solver?  Thanks

  • This is a video for union the surface model in FreeCAD:
  • Andrea, this probably not an answer but just an option:  I use FreeCAD and "union" surface parts together and then import the exported .step file to Mecway.
  • Sergio, thanks for your responses
  • Thanks Adrea! Sergio, I have a question for your approach using RB. For the middle connection holes, all of the node set was set to a single node. This mean the parts are rigidly connected to each other and not able to rotate? Is there a way to let…
  • Victor, thanks for pointing it out.  I'm doing several tests to understand it.
  • Andrea, thanks alot!
  • Thanks Victor,  I was trying to figure out how to setup DCOUP3D element to join cylindrical surface, same as the screenshot Andrea originally posted without using rigid body.
  • Victor, can you help me with an example of using dcoup3d using Mecway custom model option? I've been trying to set it up but couldnt.
  • Andrea, can you provide me the .liml model using the DCOUP3D feature?  I would like to look into it.  Thanks!
  • JL82, remove the bending radius at the two edges and/or tweet your meshing options: element size, min number of elements per curve/edge.  Like Sergio mentioned, you will need very small element size in case of using tets solid elements resulting in …
  • Thanks for the notes.
  • Mecway currently doesn't support beam and shell elements for nonlinear static analysis with its internal solver, but you could use solid elements.  They are supported. See attachments.   For linear static analysis, the max. deflection at midsp…
  • JRP, I guess it depends on you surface model.  For me the cope of the braces need to be along the surface of the chord without any gap for FreeCAD "union" to work well.  See attachment and below for a simple overlap braces surface model I created …
  • The calculation I did was just checking the analysis results using the same assumptions used the model: linear static analysis. For actual displacement, nonlinear analysis as mentioned by Victor is what I do for this type problem.
  • I tried to "union" in FreeCAD but was not successful. The surface model in the step file seems to have alot of overlap or maybe gap that I couldn't "union" them.  I have done several surface models for pipe on pipe connections and was able to "union…
  • Dave, I did a quick hand calculation using the dimension from your model and came up with 13.72" which was close to 340mm.  See attachment.
  • JRP, You can export each surface as step files into FreeCAD and "union" them together without first cutting the hole so you dont have to fill the hole up after.  If you can provide the files, I can give it a quick try and let you know.
  • cirasj, See attachments and link below:
  • cirasj,  I tried importing it to FreeCAD to export it to .step but your file has many overlapping surfaces and also doesn't seem to be a solid model.  Please recheck your CAD file.
  • Mecway is a great and affordable FEA code/software. You can use a free CAD software like FreeCAD or any CAD software that can export .step/.stp or .iges. I use mostly .step/.stp. It's up to you how you plan to create your model based on your need…

  • cirasj, I just made another video on this. See below. There are many different and faster ways to do this. Using a CAD software to build the components and then export and import them into Mecway is faster for me.

  • cirasj, I no longer have that video along with a few that used to be uploaded. I deleted them from YouTube because someone downloaded the videos and uploaded to random websites for unknown purposes.
